Tree Holiday Traditions
Christmas just wouldn’t be the same without a tree. As much as presents, candy canes, and hot chocolate play a part in the typical holiday celebration, nothing is more dearly loved than a tree standing proud in the living room. It’s really quite a sight, strung with lights, ornaments, garlands, and other twinkling decorations, not to mention that aromatic smell of pine trees, known as pinene. Any tree can become a Christmas tree when properly decorated. Pick one that speaks to you, maybe from your hometown or childhood memories. Because of this tradition for many countries around the world, it’s important to think about tree ecology and how we care for these special green representations of our festive season.
